The Mathews Harley-Davidson Riding Academy is providing Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum. MSF is a non-profit endorsed by major motorcycle manufacturers formed more than 50 years ago. Over 10 million riders have enrolled in MSF RiderCourses around the world. With approximately 2,700 sites and almost 10,000 MSF-certified RiderCoaches, more than 400,000 students take the course annually.
A DMV license waiver certificate (DL389) cannot be issued for MSF curriculum in the state of California. With any training program, students would need to go to the DMV to take the knowledge exam (written test) to finalize the licensing process. Mathews Harley-Davidson offers assistance in supporting students DMV journey and will make arrangements for those that have completed our MSF course to utilize one of the HD training motorcycles to take their skills test at the DMV.
Riders under the age of 21 are required to take a California state-approved course as part of the process to acquire an M1 endorsement on their license. Our course is an excellent option for additional education and lifelong learning. The Mathews Harley-Davidson Riding Academy Basic RiderCourse is $250 for students under the age of 21. The CHP page offers additional information and resources for all motorcycle riders in California.
